Department of medical rehabilitation of patients with
PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM AND MUSCOLOSKELETAL DISORDERS

The department focuses on rehabilitation:

Musculoskeletal system:

  • After joint endoprosthetics (hip, knee, shoulder and other), at all stages of treatment;
  • After metallic steosynthesis operations for fractures of bones of the upper and/or lower limb, fractures of pelvic bones at all stages of treatment;
  • After arthroscopic operations of large joints at all stages of treatment;
  • After the development of contractures (impaired mobility) of joints due to trauma and prolonged immobilization (wearing plaster/orthosis);
  • After orthopaedic surgeries (corrective osteotomies of the femur, humerus, shin bones, reconstructive surgeries on the feet and hands);
  • Post-traumatic osteoarthritis of large joints;
  • Conditions after dislocations and injuries of the tendon-ligament apparatus of large joints of the extremities (after surgical or conservative treatment) at all stages of treatment.

Peripheral nervous system:

  • Consequences of spinal fractures (after surgical or conservative treatment);
  • Consequences of peripheral nerve injuries of the upper or lower extremities (after surgical or conservative treatment);
  • After spinal surgery (removal of intervertebral herniations, reconstructive surgeries with transpedicular fixation, vertebroplasty and others);

A bespoke programme is developed for each patient, taking into account the underlying disease, any concomitant somatic pathology, and the psychological and motivational aspects.

Therapy is selected taking into account the individual characteristics of the patient and the nature of the course of the disease. Treatment is based on non- and drug therapy, with the use of:

  • Classical physiotherapeutic methods: laser, ultrasound, myostimulation, electric currents, electrophoresis, khivamat and others;
  • Balneotherapy (hydrotherapy): circular and underwater showers, baths, Charcot's shower and others;
  • Natural factors: mud therapy, salt baths, naphthalan, bisholin and others;
  • Restorative massage, pneumolymphatic drainage, Marutka;
  • Climatotherapy: speleotherapy, carbon dioxide baths;
  • Exercise therapy: group and individual classes in the gym and in the swimming pool, cardio-trainers, sensory paths;
  • Robotic mechanotherapy of various modifications;
  • The clinic offers a full range of services, including kinesiotaping, osteopathy, acupuncture, cryotherapy, intra-articular injections; trigger point blockades, consultations with specific sub-specialists, and others.
